Brisbane to Bourke

During the time we spent at home between trips we bought a “Carry Me” Camper which slides onto the back of our ute. It gives us more storage space and a more comfortable bed, without having to tow anything.

Leaving Home again.

Crows Nest

We drove an interesting route to get to Bourke. Instead of the usual drive down the highway to Moree, we drove via Crows Nest National Park, through Cecil Plains to St George and down to Lightning Ridge via the Hebel Gate. A lot of the roads have just re-opened following heavy winter rains.

We camped for a few nights at Yandie Campground, in Gundabooka National Park, near Bourke. The campsite was next to the Darling River, but there’s been so much rain that the river banks couldn’t be accessed because of the overflow. We did a great ride along the red dirt road to the old Redwood homestead.
